Limitations
The ThermaTouch uses an Android OS that lacks the following software:
- Google Play Services
- Google Play Store
- YouTube
- Chrome
- Location Services
- Digital Rights Management
This leads to the following limitations:
- If an external app prompts you to update, touching YES or UPDATE will not work because the Play Store is not installed
- If an external app prompts you to install a related or helper app, the link will not work because the Google Play Store is not installed
- If an external app contains an ad for another app, the link will not work because the Google Play Store is not installed
- Some apps ask you to allow permission to enable Location Services to find local content. You should deny this request because the ThermaTouch does not have either Location Services software or the underlying hardware to support these features
- The YouTube and YouTube TV apps are not compatible with ThermaTouch because Google Play Services is not installed
- Some apps contain links to YouTube videos that explicitly try to launch with the YouTube app. These will not work because the YouTube app is not installed
- The NewPipe app is a third party YouTube player and you may be able to open some YouTube links using the app picker; in order to use this feature launch NewPipe first then return to the apps screen and launch another app
- Some apps contain secure content that requires Google Play Services to be installed. Trying to sign in to access this content will result in an error message
- A full web browser is not installed
- News articles may contain videos that will not play because the device lacks Digital Rights Management software that is a part of Google Play Services. When this happens, you may get an error message that mentions Widevine DRM
Notes
Note that the version listed on the install screen is the current version available in the app store. External apps are not automatically updated. Uninstall and re-Install an app to update to the latest version.
From time to time, new apps are added to the app store. The Refresh button shown above will update the list.
